My formative years were steeped in tales from Celtic legend and mythology, a product of my Welsh ancestry.
A fascination grew from these images and symbols used by a people struggling to secure a position on the intangibles of existence. The upheaval and turbulence of their fragile world, tragedy, mortality and the forces of the natural world around them.

The work is based on historical / mythological symbolism

"Archaic tale, imaginatively describing or accounting for natural, religious or supernatural phenomena especially by personification".

A lineage of history possessing both grandeur and enigma, at times magnificently absurd.

The implied nature of these emotive forms still identifiable in the stirrings of our primitive psyche and passed down through poetry, song, folklore and legend.
